Thing I know...18 months

I know what a car, a truck, a ball, a set of keys, a blanket, a pair of shoes and a highchair are.

I can tell you when I want raisins, milk, my blanket or to go for a walk. (Note from Mama: he often doesn't articulate this; he points and goes, "Uh, uh, uh, UH!!!") If you don't get me food and plenty of it, I will let you know, and I need extra food so I can feed Dede.

Just ask me where my eyes, ears, nose, feet, belly button are, and I'll point them out.

I can help put up toys, put stuff in trash, fetch books for Mama and help brush my teeth.

If I feel like it, I can make a sound like a cow, a duck, a sheep, a puppy dog, a kitty cat, and a horse. I like it when Papa and I make duck sounds... we're funny.

Things I like: 1. walking with Mimi, 2. when Mama comes home from work, 3. being Papa's shadow, 4. going to Earth Fare with Uncle Clark for cookies 5. riding my worm, 6. taking my bath, 7. playing in the yard, 8. playing with my green truck and 9. going to school 10. looking at the turtles, ducks and kitties when I'm on a walk.

Mama says that best of all, I can get my blanket and wait by the bed at night for her to put me to sleep. What does it mean when people say, "I need a little boy break?"

Like a weed.....

This is a picture of me at my first school. Papa always take pictures of me when I'm in my farmer overalls. Mom calls Papa names--what is a country bumpkin?
I wasn't very hungry last night so I only ate blueberries, banana, rice, avocado, Cheerios, Alaskan salmon and a couple of kiwis. My overalls are getting tight, Papa says I need some new ones.

Squeaky Baby

This is a picture of mom and me when I was a new baby. When Mom went to the hospital to get me, she had a list of people to help out, but since I came early, no one was ready. Mimi was on the top of the list, but she was in Alabama. All of Mom's other friends were also out of town so Mom had to call Papa who was sailing that day. Papa said that since he was finished sailing, he would help out. Mom said he wasn't much help but did manage to stop talking long enough for me to show up.
Dr. Baker said I was a nice-sized baby, but I think I was small then. After I arrived, Mom was very hungry. The nurse brought her a sandwich and a piece of chocolate cake--she said it was my birthday cake.

Jack Goes to the Country

I went to the doctor last week for my 18-month checkup. Dr. Malcolm says that I'm doing exceptionally well. I weigh 30.6 pounds and am half an inch shy of being 3 feet, which makes me off the charts.

For my birthday, Mama and Mimi took me to the country. There were tractors, horses, cows, and acres and acres of pasture to run around in and play chase with little cousins. I had a blast and was very tired every night. Mama said she had to wash my clothes in the heavy duty cycle because I got so dirty!

Meddling...

Mimi and Mama say that I'm too busy meddling these days... They seem strangely familiar with the concept... I wonder.

I cut my lip on Saturday. When I stood up in the chair in the backyard, it closed up on me and I bit my lip and fell on the ground. Mama said to be sure to tell everyone that it was on Papa's watch.

1/2 brother Simon

This is my half donor brother Simon who lives somewhere very cold. He is an old guy, about 3 years old. Simon likes to eat, I like to eat. Is that what makes us donor brothers? Papa says he will tell me what a donor brother is on my 38th birthday. He promises to give me back the noisy wood toy he hid in the garage at the same time--bet I'll find that toy before I'm 38.

Christmas 2007.......

Mimi is helping me play with my new Christmas toys. I love Mimi. I let Mimi play with my toys ALL the time. I got roll around toys, trucks, books, chairs, table, clothes, blankets, doll and blocks for Christmas--playing with all of them makes me tired and I need a nap.

Beautiful Baby Contest..

Mama entered me in the Beautiful Baby Contest but I didn't win. Mama wants everyone to look at this picture of the winners with me in the middle. They better not tell her one of the other babies is more beautiful. What does I'll put a knot on their head mean? Next year Mama says I have to wear red. I don't think I'll be a baby next year but Mama and Meme says I'll ALWAYS be their baby--Papa just grunts.

My second Christmas..

Mama took this picture of me on Christmas Eve 2007. She wanted me to be very clean because Santa was coming to see me--who is Santa? I always smile in my bath. Taking a bath is great fun. I have 200 hundred floating toys and some have lights. Papa said I have more float toys than Africa--sometimes Papa is funny but not that time.

The big ride...

Here is a picture of Mimi and me taken last fall---I was still a baby then. This is what we do best. Mimi pushes BOB and I check out all the interesting things to see. Sometimes I take a nap.

Uncle Scooter

This is my Uncle Scooter. Scooter chews up all my toys, and when he does Papa says he is an idiot. What is an idiot? Uncle Scooter likes to chase a ball and will chase it till Mom or Papa hides it--we have a lot of hidden balls around here. When I scream, Scooter starts to shake. When it's cold, he shakes, and when we turn on the oven he shakes... Scooter shakes a lot. Papa says my sister Dede has fleas some of the time but Scooter NEVER has fleas because he shakes so much that the fleas fall off.

Sister Lulu

This is my older sister, Dede. She likes to sleep. She has funny eyes that I want to touch, but she growls at me when I try to touch them. SHE HAS NO NOSE. My very first word was Dede--I don't know why my mom calls her Lulu. Whenever Mom feeds me something I don't want, I give it to Dede--Dede will eat anything. Dede really will eat ANYTHING......

Good buddies

Papa and I are good buddies. We like to eat and walk the dogs on the Greenway. Papa doesn't like to change a stinky--it makes him very sick. Papa is going to show me all the boy things, like how to pee in the woods. We talk to each other all the time, and he says he understands what I'm saying--he makes funny duck sounds.

Mama and me...

This picture shows where I got my good looks. I love my Mama, and she loves me. She gets up at night if I'm sick. She changes my diapers when they get stinky.

Aunt Caroline came to town..

Here is a picture of my beautiful Aunt Caroline that Papa took when she came to visit us from West Virginia. We had a good time. She helped Mimi and Mom walk me, dress me and feed me--why do they call this baby sitting since I'm a big boy now?
I think Aunt Caroline should live in Charleston.

Two of a kind..

Here is a picture of my best friend Tommy and me taken last fall. I was still a baby when this was taken. Tommy tried to teach me some words because he knows a few. If we work it right, we can get into some big trouble next time.

What is terrible about two's?

Miracles happen..

After a big lunch and a couple of poops today, my mom wanted me to take a nap. When she told me it was nap time, I picked up my blanket and went to my bed. Mom looked a little shocked at my easy-going behavior--got to keep them guessing.

Meal time

Let's see, all I get is a bowl of salmon, 7 large strawberries, 1/2 orange, 1 small tomato, pasta, cheese, raisins, avocado and milk?
